posted Nov 3, 2018, 9:06 PM by Anne Geisinger

FOOD DRIVE: The combined Church and Day School food drive for the Bowie Interfaith Pantry is under way.  Please bring all items for donations to Church on Sunday the 11th of November.  We will be taking the items to the Food Pantry on Wednesday the 14th of November.  If you can help transport the donated food to the Food Pantry please contact Tom Sykes on 301-852-0861 or by email on twsykes1@verizon.net .

The November 17th Holiday Bazaar needs your help!  In the Narthex are some flyers.  Please pick one up and post it somewhere you go – a store, the library, the gym, etc.  You can email Arleen at adkirtland@gmail.com and she will send you the PDF to print if you like.

Secondly, we need baked goods for the Bake Sale.  Volunteer with Donna Rand (donna.m.rand@gmail.com) We’ll need help setting up and taking down. email Arleen at adkirtland@gmail.com.  Also it would be great to have some “helpers” in the Hall to direct people.  Eric Mauer will be running a table for folks interested in the church.  If the Bazaar is to be a success, we need all of you to pitch in and to shop!  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Arleen

Calling all “Grandparents” On November 20th, our school holds “Grandparents Day”.  As you can imagine, not every child has a grandparent who can attend, and so children feel left out.  So I’m looking for volunteers to put on that role for a day.  White hair is not required either.  Here’s the schedule for the day and Karen Falk’s description of what is needed:  “we could easily benefit from having as many as 9 special friends to help in classrooms during the Grandparents Day event.

The agenda is:

9:30AM                Welcome Parish Hall               Adults only

9:45AM                Classroom Visits                     Grandparents work with Students

10:30AM              Chapel                                     Children present for Grandparents

11:30AM              Conclusion of Activities “

Please consider joining in with our precious children!  I can testify that it is a most rewarding experience.  Arleen  adkirtland@gmail.com  or text 240-305-6514 to sign up or ask questions!

Holy Trinity Nature Trail: Donations are needed to restore the Nature Trail.  We are restoring the mulch to the pathway and building a new spur on the path for use by the school in the event of an active shooter situation at the school.  The bulk of the work is being done by the Boy scouts as two Eagle Scout projects.  The funds are needed to move the piles of mulch from along the Church drive way to the trail itself and to provide split rail fencing where needed on the trail.  Please place your donation in an envelop marked for the Nature Trail and if you are donating by check please put Nature Trail on the For line of the check.  If you have questions or want to know how you can help with the project please contact Tom Sykes at 301-852-0861 or by email at twsykes1@verizon,net

Join Us for Sunday Morning Bible StudyOur adult forum series on Sunday mornings has resumed in Parish Hall at 9:15 a.m. between the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. We will begin with “Catch”, which is concerned with attracting visitors to our church home and getting them to feel welcome and stay.

We will have a sign-up sheet to provide breakfast items, and of course coffee, tea, donuts, and (usually) bagels and cream cheese are also available. Please come and join us in these forum discussions -- come for the 8 a.m. service and stay a while, or come early, have a nosh and some interesting discourse, and stay for the 10:30 a.m. service. Or just come for the discussions! We look forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with you.
